The daughter of time - La figlia del tempo

Riprendo (dopo altri mesi... sembra che a NYC il tempo voli più in fretta che da altre parti!) il mio blog, ripartendo dalla mia libromania. Un'altra perla che mi sono aggiudicata a un prezzo stracciato è:

“La figlia del tempo” di Josephine Tey Uno degli altri cinque libri della stessa autrice, che ha come protagonista l'ispettore Alan Grant. In questo caso, l'ispettore è alle prese con un mistero del tutto particolare. Costretto in un letto di ospedale per una gamba rotta, con il soffitto come unico panorama, disdegna tutti i libri che gli vengono regalati da premurosi amici e colleghi, appassionandosi invece di una faccia: in mezzo a un fascio di cartoline portate da un'amica, un ritratto di Riccardo III lo affascina, . Lettura piacevole e scorrevole, questo libro induce alla riflessione su certe verità storiche che tutti noi diamo per assodate e su cui, al contrario, bisognerebbe indagare più approfonditamente.

“The daughter of time” by Josephine Tey One of the five other books by the same author, that has as main character the inspector Alan Grant. In this novel, the Inspector is grappling with a very particular mystery. Confined to bed in hospital with a broken leg, with the ceiling as the sole view, he disdained all the books that his friends and colleagues donated to him, but became fond of a face: among a bundle of postcards brought by a friend, a portrait of Richard III fascinated him. Pleasant and fluent reading, this book leads to reflect on certain historical truth that all of us give as ascertained and on which, on the contrary, one should more deeply investigate.
