Vacanze nel Maine - Holidays in Maine

A giugno/luglio una mia cara amica è venuta a trovarmi a NY, con l'intenzione di visitare anche il Maine, più in particolare Cape Cod (astenersi da battute su Jessica Fletcher, grazie!) e le due isole di Nantucket e Martha Vineyards, famosa quest'ultima come una delle residenze della famiglia Kennedy.

In June/July a dear friend of mine came to see me in NY, with the intention to visit also Maine, more in particular Cape Cod (avoid jokes on Jessica Fletcher, thank you!) and the two islands of Nantucket and Martha Vineyards, the last one famous for being one of Kennedy family's residences.

Ho quindi deciso di raggiungerla, prendendomi dei giorni di ferie (capite quindi il mio gran da fare di questo periodo di latitanza dal blog). Il tempo era ideale: non troppo caldo, né troppo freddo. Ad entrambe piace molto camminare, quindi abbiamo girato la penisola e le due isole in lungo e in largo, fino ad arrivare, con la macchina a noleggio, a Provincetown, sull'estrema punta di Cape Cod. Il panorama è magnifico ovunque, con l'acqua chiara e le spiagge non affollate su cui si affacciano le casette basse in legno, tipiche della nuova Inghilterra. Vi lascio con delle foto, con la promessa di raccontarvi, nei prossimi post, qualche simpatico aneddoto e sopratutto del whale-watching, l'avvistamento delle balene.

So I decided to reach her there, taking some days off (you now understand how busy I was during this period of desertion of my blog). The weather was perfect: not too hot, not too cold. Both of us love walking, therefore we toured the peninsula and the two islands up and down, arriving, by the rented car, to Provincetown, at the late end of Cape Cod. The view is wonderful everywhere, with limpid water and the beach not overcrowded and overlooked by the wooden two-floor houses, tipical of the New England. I will leave you some photos, with the promise ot telling you, in the next posts, some funny stories and, above all, about the whale-watching.
