30 GIORNI DI LIBRI - 30 DAY BOOK CHALLENGE

Giorno 21: La tua copertina preferita (Risponderò prima alla domanda inglese, che è più restrittiva di quella italiana e chiede: “l'illustrazione preferita di un libro d'infanzia”) Ho una pessima memoria, come ho già avuto modo di dire. Stranamente tendo a ricordare le storie e non le figure dei libri. L'unica che mi viene in mente è quella di un pinguino; era un pinguino speciale: la sua livrea infatti non era a “smoking”, ma tutta colorata e dipinta a fiori! Il pinguino si chiamava “Hyppie”. A causa di questa stranezza, Hyppie non era accettato dagli altri pinguini, neppure dagli insegnanti che continuavano a insistere che avrebbe dovuto fare qualcosa per liberarsi di tutti quei colori! Non ricordo come andò a finire - suppongo che

Day 21: Favorite picture book from childhood I have a bad memory, as already said! Strangely I remember the stories, not the pictures of the books. The only one that springs to mind is about a penguin; it was a special penguin though: its “plumage” didn't look as a smoking, but it was full of colours and painted flowers! The penguin was called – of course! – “Hyppie!. Because of this strangeness Hyppie was not accepted by the others penguins neither by its teacher that insisted it should have made something against all those colours! I do not remember what happened to Hyppie – I supposed at the end it made something exceptional tending to the heroic therefore it was accepted as it was – anyway this colourful penguin

Hyppie fece qualcosa di eccezionale tendente all'eroico, che lo fece accettare per quello che era - comunque sia quel pinguino tutto colorato mi dava allegria, al contrario dei suoi compagni “seriosi” in bianco e nero. Venendo alla domanda italiana: ci sono splendide copertine oramai e sceglierne una è veramente difficile. In generale sono attratta da quelle con colori pastello che ricordano un quadro antico, piuttosto che da quelle lucide con colori forti e contrastanti (magari con rosso sangue o scene truculente). Sceglierò perciò la copertina di un libro che mi piace e che mi sento di consigliare: “Jane e la disgrazia di Lady Scargrave” di Stephanie Barron È il primo di una serie di gialli storici ambientati nell'ottocento con la particolarità che la protagonista nonché investigatrice è Jane Austen, la scrittrice di "Orgoglio e Pregiudizio"! Una protagonista assolutamente convincente e a cui ci si affeziona subito, non vedendo l'ora di proseguire con le avventure successive.

In general I am attracted by those with pastel colours which remember an ancient picture, rather than those glossy cover with strong and contrasted colours (even with red blood or truculent scene). I will chose the cover of a book that I feel like suggesting: “Jane and the Unpleasantness ” “at Scargrave Manor” by Stephanie Barron It is the first of a series of historic thriller played in the nineteenth century, with the peculiarity that the main character and investigator too is Jane Austen, the author of “Pride and Prejudice”! An absolutely convincing protagonist, to whom one becomes soon endeared, not being able to wait for the next adventure!
